The symbol for the Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Newark

The Symbol

The symbol for the Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Newark incorporates the symbols of the Holy Spirit and the empty cross, as it is through the Grace of God and the Sacrifice of His Son, that we are offered eternal life.

The green around the cross and the blue border of the logo represents our earthly existence and experience Christ shared with us. The white represents Christ’s purity, and the red, sacrifice. The gold and purple, the colors of royalty, represents His reign in Heaven.

The symbol represents the Catholic belief in the Holy Trinity, the sun beams, the rays of faith that our heavenly Father sends to us with the gift of faith. The cross is the symbol of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the Son of God the Father. The cross carries with it the hope of our eternal life in heaven. The dove, the Holy Spirit, remains with us, showing us grace, which is so necessary to assist us in loving God and our neighbor and which expresses charity in our lives.
