STUDENT BIRDHOUSES DRAW WILDLIFE TO CEMETERY

Approximately 100 student volunteers from Catholic high schools in the region visited Gate of Heaven Cemetery and Mausoleum in East Hanover to build and mount birdhouses in hopes of attracting more wildlife to the cemetery.  Their visit was part of a week-long community service program with the Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry of the Archdiocese of Newark in which students travel and perform various services within the Archdiocese.  A new teen group visited and toured the cemetery daily and learned about the significance of a Catholic cemetery and the ministry as a Corporal Work of Mercy. The cemetery visit is hosted by Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Newark.
